Today

I haven't been too great about blogging lately. I think it is because I have been reading too many other blogs then thinking that I really have nothing of importance to say. :-) Ah well.

Guess what? Today Nathan pulled himself up to the coffee table. Using his hands (and mouth), he pulled himself to his knees then got his feet under him and stood up! Chex Mix does wonders for a baby's motivation - ha. Poor thing, once his momma figured out what he was after, the Chex Mix disappeared.

I took little boy to the doctor today for a bum check, and they said that it looks good and could take up to two more weeks to completely heal! Ahhhhhh. So, we have another appointment in two more weeks. I guess they want to see it when it is completely healed so they know it is okay. I should be jumping for joy when diaper changes don't involve washclothes, warmed water, and baths. :-)

He didn't sleep much today, and tonight he was CRANK-EE! So, he went to bed at seven...we'll see how that goes. The bad thing about his early bedtime tonight is that he didn't really get to see his daddy. :-( But, there was nothing else I could do. The doctor visit just interrupted his nap time.

Oh, we did see some very cool fish at the doctor's office today. One good thing about a surgeon's office is that they go overboard in trying to make kids feel comfortable and happy. :-) There's a mural over two-thirds of the waiting room that has trees, animals, and fun kid stuff. At the other end of the office is a large aquarium with fish that look like they came straight from the fish tank on "Finding Nemo." I think Nathan was impressed...for the first 30 minutes, at least. ;-)

And, finally, I must say goodnight. I'll leave you with a few things that have been on my mind lately:

1) being a good wife and mother (not easy)
2) the parents of Nathan's future wife (goodness, if their daughter will raise my grandkids; aren't I allowed to start thinking about them now?!) hee hee
3) homeschooling
4) politics (Evan and I watched a documentary on the Supreme Court last night. I have come to the conclusion that I would NOT want that job. ;-) Seriously, though, it would be hard to balance standing for right and wrong and standing for personal freedom. The phrase that kept going through my mind: "You can't legislate morality.")
5) house-proofing your child vs. child-proofing your house.....hmmmm, that's a hard one

Great post. But no pictures? ;-)

I love the part about your granchildren - that's hilarious.
