Waiting for Nathan to wake up

So, I know I only have a few more minutes before my boy wakes up, and I'm not in the mood to start something just to be interrupted. :-) Well, except maybe to start a blog. ha
My day has been okay so far. I did discover that I do not have another package of diapers like I thought. :-( Good thing I have a wonderful friend who lives across the street who has a baby in the same size diapers!! (I don't have a car today; it's being repaired.)
Yesterday Evan worked half a day at home then took half a day off because he was sick. He had fever the night before and quite a bit of the day yesterday. He finally just took off half a day because his head was hurting so badly (and all of his work is on the computer). He rested most of the afternoon then got well enough to go pick up a new battery for his computer. :^) He's back at work today, although I don't know how well he was feeling. I know he has to be pretty bad in order to stay home or take time off.
I made butternut squash-orange soup for Nathan yesterday, and he really liked it. I'm trying to make sure he gets his orange veggies; he doesn't like carrots or sweet potatoes. I mean, the kiddo will eat broccoli like it is going out of style, but he won't touch sweet potatoes!! I also made macaroni and cheese with broccoli, and he loved that. I'll try to post some of these recipes on the recipe blog soon and link to them.
Guess who's awake and saying "Momma?" ?! (Not so sure of that punctuation.)

Umm, Rachel, I don't wish to unduly alarm you. But I really think something is wrong with a kid who doesn't like sweet potatoes, forget the carrots. Have you taken him to the doctor recently? ;-)
Pumpkin is an excellent and cheap orange veggie right now, and it makes good soup too--very similar to butternut, but cheaper. And it makes pies, which are better.

Rats! And I don't take him to the doctor again until he's two!! ;^)
As for pumpkin, do you have to buy a special baking pumpkin or will any one do?

Depends on who you ask. . .I say any will do. The super huge ones have a higher water content, which cooks out, but I couldn't tell a huge difference in taste or texture between the little "sugar pumpkins" and your typical jack-o-lantern.
