My day. Goodness. My son has had two screaming (literally, bending over, gut-wrenching screaming) fits today, and several other whiny times. I am tired now. The first screaming fit was caused by the fact that I took his corn bread. He wanted out of the high chair, but I do not let him out with food. He put the cornbread down but grabbed it the minute I started picking him up. I took it away and set him on the floor. Thus began screaming fit #1. Fast forward a little farther in the day. I am sitting at the table cross-stitching; Nathan is trying to climb into a kitchen chair. Nathan's efforts aren't going so well, so he turns around and starts screaming fit #2. I turned him around, sat him down, said "no," and went on working. He sat there, screaming, for a good ten minutes. Believe me, ten minutes feels like forever when a child is screaming their heart out right next to you.
I got several interesting items today in the mail. One is from a research group which is conducting a survey of mothers who have had extremely premature babies. This letter is just to warn me of the packet coming my way "next week" which contains a survey and "something to thank me" for my time. They want to find out "why some babies are born healthy and others are not." Hmmmm. Next item, American Baby magazine. I subscribed around four months preggo, and I have been told by other moms that unsubscribing to that magazine is useless. I guess free subscriptions are hard to cancel. Last item (of interest), Huggies newborn packet proudly saying "You're almost there!" Sure, to the edge of a cliff. And I was just thinking earlier how good I was getting at shutting my mind down whenever all of those "I would've been...", "he would almost be..." thoughts would come my way.
The only really bad thing about today is that my husband will be late again tonight because he has class. I think I'll go lie down.
