Today has been a busy day. This morning Nathan and I took Gimli to the vet for his yearly shots. As always, the trip was full of adventures. I decided not to take a stroller for Nathan this year, and I was pleased with the results. I don’t think I was more or less tired by the end of the trip than I was last year. I actually laughed quite a bit. Why? Well, my kid is funny. Hee hee
There was a cage of kittens in the office, and Nathan was quite intrigued by the playful balls of fur. The kittens were quite intrigued by Nathan, too. Nathan would lean over to play with the kittens on the bottom, and a kitten on the top would stick out his paw and slap Nathan on the top of the head. Nathan was a bit confused for a while about what was happening to the top of his head. I laughed. Nathan poked one kitten a little too hard, and the kitten nipped him. I laughed. Nathan asked what had happened, and I told him that that was the kitten’s way of talking to him and telling him to stop. He went back over, poked the kitten, then laughed and said, “He’s talking to me!” whenever the kitten nipped him again. Ha
Gimli wasn’t as great as he usually is at the vet. When we first arrived, a dog in the back was yelping and crying, and Gimli was pretty jumpy from then on out. He kept getting the chair beside me and sitting there or trying to get behind me in my chair. Nathan wanted to walk Gimli around, so everyone in the office was laughing at Nathan “walking” Gimli. Nathan was talking in his stern voice to Gimli, telling him not to go over by the people, and Gimli was pretty much doing whatever he wanted to do. When we went back to the room, Nathan crawled up and sat in the chair like a good boy, and Gimli followed. Now THAT was funny looking. Nathan was sitting back in the chair, and Gimli was sitting in the front of the chair trying to stay away from the vet. Oh my. I laughed again. The vet laughed, too. The vet said Gimli could stand to lose around five pounds, so I’ll have to tell Evan that the dogs are not burning more calories in the cold weather…
