What a week

Noelle continued having fever, although it was very mild, for two more days. Then when she kicked the fever, she started coughing and having congestion. I suspect she was probably congested to begin with, just more in her head than nose. I finally got out her swing (Mom's suggestion) and let her take her naps there on Saturday. She took two 2-hour naps and started being my happy little girl again. I think she is definitely at the tail-end of this now.
So, I avoided taking Noelle to the doctor, but we got to visit the doctor on Friday anyway. My darling Nathan was playing with one of the cloth-covered bendy poles that go over Noelle's playmat and somehow flipped it up into his eye. I was changing Noelle's clothes when I heard Nathan scream and ran into the livingroom to find him holding his eyes and crying. I grabbed a washcloth, got it wet, and told him to put it over his eyes. I couldn't see blood, so I kept telling myself that it was going to be okay. There would be blood if he had skewered his eyeball, right? I was not feeling very well at that moment. He calmed down and let me look at his eye, and the only thing I could see was red at the bottom of the iris in his left eye. So we took him to the eye doctor. Evan met me there, which was a great help. The doctor said that the cornea was scratched but that it would heal in a few days. It got really red on Saturday, and he was up Saturday night saying that it hurt and he couldn't open it. But on Sunday it was much better. Now I'm just wondering how I can keep myself from cringing every time he picks up a stick.
I'm just hoping to get sleep sometime in the near future. Noelle slept her best Saturday night when Nathan was up with his eye hurting. Guess who didn't get to sleep Saturday night?? :-)
Sunday was just another day in the life of a mother who has two small children and one husband who has finals this week. ha
