I am sitting in my room, with most of my kids, and it is quiet. :-) They were nervous when they first came in because it was the BIG test, but I think they are over it now. Four of my students are assigned to another room to test because they are able to have a little help or clarification. One of them was being difficult this morning and wouldn't go. He wanted to stay in here with me, but I can't help him on his test, and he tends to disrupt the class while he's in here. Oh well.
Last night was the last night (ha) of the Bible study I have been attending with some other women. None of them are married, but they are all in their late twenties or early thirties. Somehow they started talking about how they were going to be strict with their children; then one of them said, "What do you guys think about homeschooling?" Now, THAT'S an interesting question.
I wasn't able to actually say that I had been homeschooled until several had already started talking about why it was bad. One of them stopped everyone before they got too far and asked if anyone there had been homeschooled. Then the questions started. What about the social aspect? Did I like it? (Shock on faces when I said that I will homeschool my own.) Will I homeschool them all the way through? (Did I mention that I don't like being the center of attention?) What did my parents do when I got to subjects they didn't understand? School is SOO much more than academics. Was I prepared academically for college? (Okay, that one was just funny; I really had to control the laughter.) Anyway, after the questions, they decided that it was okay for some people. :-) I am still wondering what my fellow fifth-grade teacher is thinking.
I am sitting here, looking at my class, and the ones who are finished are having a hard time staying quiet. One boy is being perfectly quiet. . .he is tearing a Kleenex into shreds and arranging them on his desk. This is the one time I'm glad he can entertain himself with a Kleenex and a pencil.
I guess I should do something productive, although I have already done all of my grading. :-)

Ha ha, Mrs. Ruark! But when your parents are so wonderful, why not share all?
