Once again, I am sitting in a quiet classroom with students who are diligently working. I have already had one boy spill water on his test, but fortunately most of the water got on his book and not his scantron. They are allowed to have water bottles on their desks, but I put his to the side of the room where he can have it during the break.
Speaking of the water bottles, I have noticed that several bottles now have cloudy, pink water in them. The only explanation I can come up with is that they put their peppermints in their bottles. Now, how they got the peppermints in their bottles, I don't really know. Yuck.
Yesterday afternoon we watched a short video on planets (to prepare for our science test on Friday, of course), and the movie was pretty neat. However, the beginning of the movie explains how our universe came about. The narrator started talking about gases exploding to create the sun and about our earth become livable through single-celled organisms that began to evolve. I paused the movie and asked, "Does anyone really know what happened back then? Can they prove it?" Resounding "no" from the class. :-) No one was alive back then, so these are just guesses as to what happened. Oh, the movie did point out that it was the Christians who used to think the earth was the center of our solar system. :-) Anyway, fun stuff.
I think my students are going to finish this test earlier than they did yesterday. Good for them, bad for me. Now I'll have to figure out something to do with them until lunch time. :-)
