I think I do not want to go to Exchange City. I think we should not have to work with these kids anymore. I think I should make a pile of worksheets as high as the ceiling and just start handing them out. I think I was a bit overwhelmed today. :-)
This is the first time any of the fifth grade teachers have done Exchange City before, and so none of us know what we are doing. The fifth grade students will go run a "city" for a day, but we have to get them ready for that day. Today we finally broke them up into their business groups (amid much whining--in my class--about not getting the perfect job), and we split the groups between the three teachers. The other two teachers actually had them fill out their loan applications, but I had to call a parent and threaten another student. :-) The businesses in my room came up with really original names, though (name for the newspaper business: Newspaper), and they may have even done the math right on their employee worksheet, so I'm happy. On to a new topic.
Evan will be working late again tonight, so I don't really have a great reason for going home other than getting away from the smell of my classroom. I just moved the desks back into groups, so I'm just setting myself up for more complaining tomorrow. I will be adamant, however, NO CHANGING GROUPS!
Enough complaining. I will make it through this year, and I WILL teach next year, no matter what the voices in my head are saying. :-)

I love your posts. They're so much fun to read.
Yes, you will teach next year. You might even like it! After all, you're starting to like the house, so it's just proof that anything could happen. :-) Ha ha
