Yesterday and today have been really good days. :-) It's so encouraging to have really good days sometimes.
Yesterday we had breakfast and read, and the kiddos played around the kitchen while I got a few things ready for supper. I bundled them up, and we headed outside for 15 minutes or so to play in the mud/snow. ha They really enjoyed it until Nathan decided to trample Noelle and got banished to time out until we went inside. :-)
After I put Noelle down for a nap, I did school time with Nathan. He still really enjoys the Catherine Vos story Bible, and we're also reading Farmer Boy. Actually, we finished Little House on the Prairie and then started Farmer Boy yesterday. Counting and phonics are also on our school-time list, but we just touch on them.
When we finished school, Nathan helped me fold laundry and peel carrots to put in the soup. He had the idea to make some dip and keep some carrots out of the soup for dipping, so we made dip with some left-over cream cheese, a green onion, and garlic powder. It was definitely a hit. He was just so helpful the whole time.
We ate lunch after Noelle woke up, and then we just did random things until it was Noelle's naptime again. Then Nathan helped me finish laundry and do a few other things. We read quite a bit, too.
I had a mom's meeting last night, which I really enjoyed, and Evan had even put away left-overs and washed dishes when I got home! :-)
Today has gone really well, too. Nathan and Noelle played a lot together today, and they've really been enjoying each other. Nathan did story time with her, and then they played in his room. Nathan discovered the my white flour container was empty, so he found the white flour and filled the container for me. And he did it with a minimum of mess, too.
We did school after Noelle went down for a nap, and Nathan swept some of the kitchen floor while I was trying to make a menu. He got a bucketful of apples out of the garage for me then went outside, broke the ice off the dogs' water, and played for a little while.
Right now he is lying down for a little rest because he kept sticking his feet in front of a book that I was reading to Noelle (and he had done several things before that). Noelle is also back down for a nap, even though it is a bit early. She just kept yawning and acting sleepy, so I put her down. She's my little cuddlebug. :-) She's started throwing fits, lying down on her belly, and scooting herself across the floor when she's mad. Not good. She pooped in the potty yesterday morning but in her diaper today. I think that little phase is going to be over for now. ha I didn't expect her to really potty train right now, but it was interesting to see how many days in a row she would actually do it!
I guess I should go. I could really use a nap, but I suppose I should finish my menu, print off some recipes, and check on the pork fat that I'm rendering into lard. ;-)
