Today

I should really be taking a nap. Really. Evan has been getting up at 5:00-5:30 the last two weeks (I think he slept in one day but then got up that early last Saturday), and for some reason that throws me off in a bad way. He always goes in to kiss Nathan good-bye before he leaves since, if he does not, Nathan will more than likely hear Evan's truck start and go ballistic because his daddy is leaving without saying good-bye (which means I have to jump out of bed and try to catch Evan before he leaves and Noelle wakes up). Anyway, sometimes Nathan will go back to sleep, but on mornings like this morning he stays awake, which means he is really tired by 2 o'clock. And whiney. Very, very, whiney. His mother does not do well with a child who whines at every request, so Nathan is napping. ha And I'm whining. :-P
We walked/rode to the park today because the sun was shining and yesterday was so nice. I forgot what state I'm in and that I should always check the wind before leaving the house. Whew! It was windy. Very windy. I think it was around 45 degrees outside, but the wind was horrid. The kiddos had fun anyway. I'm really looking forward to Friday. It's supposed to be 67 on Friday!!!! Yes, I realize this is January, but this is also the SOUTH. I think I might actually go insane if I had to live in a place where I couldn't take my children outside between December and March. ha Or in a place that doesn't almost hit 70 degrees at least once a month in the winter. :-)
Nathan and I are chugging a long on school. He read "Rat had a mat" and other variations of that sentence (he had a bat, hat, etc.) and also "dog had a hog" and "pig had a fig." I have to write down the ending first (-at, -ig, -ad, -og) and have him sound it out then add on the consonant to make a word. He's getting better, though, and he likes to see progress or he gets frustrated.
Noelle does not like to be told "no." She also doesn't think that the word "no" applies to her. If I swat her, she just seems to get violent (throws things at me). I am really at a loss. I've just been putting her in her bed if she won't obey. I tried holding her down one time, and that brought on the war of the worlds and the wrath of Noelle. ha Not really "ha" because I wasn't laughing at the time, but I'm sure I'll laugh one day, right?? Looking back, I'm thinking we're going to be saying that Nathan was a bit easier to deal with. He can be hyper and into everything and talking nonstop, but he responds to discipline. Maybe she's too young, but I know that she knows what she is doing. I wish I knew what I am doing. ;-)
Well, I think I'm going to lie down. My back is hurting. Remind me the next time my driveway is covered in snow NOT to shovel it. Period. Oh, and not to stand around Nathan if he has a Kong in his hand (that's an extremely hard plastic/rubber chew toy for big dogs). Getting hit in the back with it doesn't feel the greatest. It doesn't help that he slid down the slide behind me today and kicked me in the back with a boot in the exact same spot. Okay, enough whining. My children are really delightful. Honestly. I just have to remember that some days. :-D
