Weekend before the storm

With our homeschool friends.

These pictures were from Saturday:

Well, we're still waiting to see how much of a storm we get out of tonight/tomorrow. :-) The weekend, however, was beautiful. I took the kids to a friend's family property on Friday with some other people from the homeschool group, and we ate lunch and let the kids play for a good three hours outside in the middle of nowhere. Then on Saturday my parents came up, and we decided to go look at some land my great uncle owns (also out in the middle of nowhere). We spent all Saturday afternoon walking in the woods, and it was a beautiful day to be outside!
Yesterday Evan and I got to go out (BY OURSELVES) while Mom and Dad watched the kiddos. He took me out to eat then to buy some jeans. Then I mentioned needing eggs (which I get from a man who has chickens), and Evan said to call and see if he had eggs so we could just go get them. Well, the man was in Arkansas but told me that I was more than welcome to go gather my own if I wanted to. ha So, still in our Sunday clothes, we went and gathered eggs. :-) I'm a bit, um, chicken? of the chickens, so I had to laugh at myself when a hen flew out of the nesting box while I was trying to gather eggs from another box and I squealed. Evan, on the other hand, wasn't bothered a bit and even petted one of the chickens. ha
Today I've been struggling with Nathan quite a bit over his attitude. Of course, I made him take a nap this afternoon, and he was much improved after that. The weekend was quite tiring for him. :-) He was actually good for me when I did my last-minute errands this morning.
I had to go out again around 4:30 this afternoon to the Azure Standard pick-up. It was COLD! A friend stayed in the car with our kiddos while I helped everyone else unpack the semi that had brought our orders. I got my Granny Smith apples and my Galas, so I'm a happy camper! My errands are done, we have plenty of food, and I think we're pretty much ready for whatever (should I say that?)! ha I'm almost hoping that it's bad enough to merit Evan having to stay home from work. But that's just me. ;-)
