Mainly so I don't forget.
1) When we went to Texas for Jess' baby shower, I took the kids outside to play because the shower went pretty long. We were at the bottom of a long hill when Nathan decided that he desperately needed to poop. He made it to the sidewalk just outside the glass door where everyone was sitting inside.
2) I got to take my kiddos down to the pasture one morning after it had rained the night before. They both had their boots on and were so content playing in the puddles with sticks. It was beautiful. They were filthy and happy. I was outside and happy.
3) Nathan is a joy to work with. Honestly, I love talking to him. Now, try to get anything done and expect him to "stay out of my way" and "stay out of mischief"....not so great. ha! When he is around new and exciting people, he is crazy; but at home he can just be the most considerate and lovable kid ever. He helped me make play dough for a friend's birthday party tomorrow night, and he chattered happily away while he was kneading the coloring into the dough (by the way, I found food coloring paste in a Williams&Sonoma box at a garage sale; it is WONDERFUL for making beautiful play dough).
4) Noelle is my cuddle bug. I was rocking her last night before I put her down to sleep, and she was just cuddled up next to me. Every time I stopped singing, she said, "Again!" ;-) I did it a bit longer than normal because I just had a realization that this cute, cuddly, thumb-sucking girl was going to get too big to rock before I know it.
5) Nathan does not spare his compliments. He is a very thankful little person. He thanked his daddy for making hot dogs and told him that he was the best hot dog maker ever. He also said that he appreciated his daddy so much and that he was the best daddy. (Evan was grimacing at me; Nathan has no idea how bad his words make Evan feel for being gone so much.)
6) Yesterday we went to our farm. The farmer was showing us how to pick the broccoli, and Nathan and Noelle were running up and down the row picking broccoli. I was walking back toward the end of the row we started at when I spotted a big, black snake looped around a broccoli plant. I told the farmer where it was and that I didn't think it was poisonous. He said it was just a black snake but he didn't want it in his broccoli. ha He got a hoe to try to move it, but it was slithering around everywhere! It kept raising up and slithering around him and in and out of the broccoli rows. He never did catch it. I just did NOT want that thing coming my way in a panic! ha I took the kids back down the row (on the other side) to pick a bit more broccoli and explained that the snake was actually kind-of good because it ate rodents. Nathan and I were definitely more attentive to were we stuck our hands for the rest of the day! Nathan is not too fond of snakes. ;-)
And, that's all for now!
