:-)
And humility is a strong point of mine, too. ha!
This morning the kids and I went straight outside after making beds and getting dressed. I cut up some cheese, grapefruit, and boiled eggs and put them on a plate for our breakfast. I took out our Bible story book, RLS poetry book, and Christian Liberty nature reader and read those while we were eating. We went out into my garden to spread dirt; then I watered the dirt (trying to get it ready to have something planted there) and filled the dogs' pool. Then I scooped all the poop in the yard. I was petting Monty and noticed huge mats of fur behind both of his ears. Ugh. So I got the scissors and started snipping. I was probably THIRTY minutes cutting those things off because they were so close to his skin. The kids, well, they had fun, too (See the pic of Noelle below). They had a bucket, the dogs' pool with water, and dirt. Noelle seemed to think that the mud belonged on her head.
We've been treating the dogs for fleas for a while because our neighbors got them really badly (then moved). Gimli, the wonderful dog that he is, doesn't have any. As I was cutting the mats off of Monty, I saw hoards of fleas on him. Double ugh. I hate fleas and flea poop. So after I finished cutting his hair, I took Monty to the front and bathed him. Hard core bathed. He is perfectly clean now and ready for another treatment. While I was washing Monty, Nathan let Gimli out and tried to wash him, too. ha Gimli weighs double what Nathan weighs, so it's always funny to watch Nathan try to work with Gimli. ha
I called Evan and told him that he had a wonderful wife and he would have a hard time finding another like me anywhere. He asked what I had done. ha ha
The day was so beautiful that I decided we would walk to the park and eat lunch. And we did! The only hitch was that some guys were mowing the park, but we were able to stay mostly away from them. Then our friends joined us at their park on their way home from the doctor's office.
Nathan was pretty tired on our walk home, but I've learned a trick to deal with a lagging Nathan: start telling a story. ;-) He has to keep up in order to hear, and he MUST hear.
That's all for now! Oh, and for those of you who don't know my history with Monty, he is EVAN'S dog, and I have never particularly liked him...which is why I'm a wonderful wife. ;-)
