Let's see. I'm going to do list-form for now and possibly fill in later.
The kids and I went to Texas all by our little selves.
Nathan is a beautiful traveler; Noelle is not.
I had a really great week until Friday evening when high expectations were shot about the time hormones levels went wacky. ha ha
My children love the country. I love the country. Why don't we live in the country? Oh, yeah, there is one other person in our family. ;-) We kind-of wouldn't do well without him.
OH, I got locked in my room in PeePaw and MeeMaw's house in the middle of the night. I had gotten up to make Nathan go to the bathroom before crawling in bed with me when I realized that I could NOT get out. MeeMaw came, PeePaw came, screwdriver came, I took off the door knob, and FINALLY a piece of plastic got me out. Kids slept through the whole thing. It was rather humorous, and I laid in bed laughing once I got back in bed.
The drive home was uneventful until Noelle got a piece of rolled-up napkin stuck up her nose, on the turnpike no less. I was just thankful that I had tweezers in my makeup bag.
Our week back at home was crowned with Nathan busting/splitting his lip. After seeing his pediatrician and a plastic surgeon, I think all will probably be well. My momma's heart did not have a good time that day, though. Having a doctor tell you that your kid will probably be put under that day isn't relaxing. I was really thankful for Sarah, who kept Noelle during those crazy appointments. :-)
The morning after Nathan's accident, I couldn't help chuckling at his attempts to eat. When I told him that we would by going by Miriam's house, he said that he hoped she wouldn't laugh at him. I relayed his sentiments to her mother. He shouldn't have worried. Miriam cried when her mother told her about Nathan's accident. One look at her face when she walked up to Nathan made me wonder why I hadn't already assured Nathan that she wouldn't laugh. Nathan's friend showed WAY more compassion that his own mother did. ha Hey, I'm the mother here; if I can't laugh, I'll go crazy.
The day after the doctor's office visits, Noelle kicked Nathan in the mouth and he and his friend bonked heads. Both incidents caused more blood. I'm gonna be so glad when his mouth has healed!
Today Nathan did his first work for hire. He was raking leaves in our yard yesterday, and our neighbors said he could rake their leaves. :-) He went over this afternoon (right across the street) and raked leaves. He made $2, and Evan took him tonight to buy a car he has been asking for for a while (he had a little other money, too). He was one very happy boy. He is such an easy kid as long as he is busy. ;-)
I'm trying to get our "school" back on track. I'm trying to compromise between mine and Evan's views on education. ha! I think a five-year-old doesn't really have to worry about school, and Evan wants to see lesson plans. (TPS gave me 50 minutes a day to plan...I should tell him that.) Nathan writes all of his ABC's many, many times a week. He can read three-letter words, and he's starting on silent-e words. He is constantly writing cards, lists, and other randomness. He can count by tens, and when he is concentrating (he did it in the van on our long trip) he can write addition problems to solve word problems that I tell him.
Noelle is talking quite a bit now. In the last three months, her language and vocabulary have exploded. She talks all the time. She loves to sing. She is a goofball. Major goofball. She makes me laugh all the time (when she's not throwing fits, screaming, and telling me, "I don't WANT TO!!!!!!"). She bounces on the couch and anywhere else she sits. She loves books and bracelets. The are in reverse order of importance. Bracelets must be worn at all times. They are not allowed in bed, though. She asks for the time right when she gets up. "Where mine bracelets?" I If I say that I don't know, she responds with, "Go find them, Mom." or "They're on my dresser."
Okay, I'm out of steam.
Goodnight. :-)
Oh, did I mention that I got a guitar? I like it.
