It's a little late, but I suppose I should document the experience. ;-)
The first one was around 2:15 Saturday morning. I woke up from a crazy dream, and I could hear my jewelry in my jewelry box jangling. I asked Evan about it, and he said it was probably Nathan then went back to sleep. I did NOT think that it was Nathan, although I did lie there and try to visualize what on EARTH he could be doing to cause our wall to shake (his bunkbed is against our shared wall, so we frequently hear bumps and bangings). I could not get back to sleep, and I didn't get up to check online because I didn't want to wake my already-exhausted husband up. So I just laid there and wondered if it was the end of the world or something important like that.
When we all woke up that morning, I checked online and saw that it was indeed an earthquake. Weird. As long as it was daylight, I was cool. ;-) And it was one of those once-in-a-lifetime things. Won't happen again.
Late that night, I was in the bathroom when that horrid rumbling sound started again and everything started shaking. It seemed to last forever, and I had no clue what to do. Evan and I just met in the middle of the room and stared at each other. ha He later sent me an e-mail with earthquake safety rules. ha ha ha Anyway, I shook for at least the next hour. When we tried to go to sleep we kept hearing noises and wondering if it was another earthquake. We didn't feel all the aftershocks.
Sunday went by, and on Monday we had severe thunderstorms (complete with a tornado watch...in NOVEMBER) coming. Evan had decided to just hole up in our room to study instead of leaving like he always does after supper. I had already gotten the kids to bed and was out in the laundry room doing switching over/starting laundry when another earthquake happened. I didn't even feel it until I walked into the kitchen and heard the microwave rattling. For some reason that one didn't really phase me, although Evan wasn't happy about it. I think it helped that I didn't even feel the first part of it. Later that night we had thunderstorms. Yay!
