Nathan

I've got to write this down before I forget.
Nathan is in a painfully honest stage. Painfully.
A couple of weeks ago, we were walking across the parking lot to Cracker Barrel when Nathan said, "Mom, Cracker Barrel has a lot better pancakes than yours."
"Thanks, Nathan." --somewhat sarcastically
"Well, I bet you could ask and they could give you their recipe!"

A week later he was talking to me and being really sweet, so sweet that he decided to do something for me.
"Mom, when I get old enough to make money I'll buy you the Cracker Barrel recipes for food and maybe you could cook as good as them."

A week later (this week), I made tortillas for lunch because I only had one left and we really wanted tacos.
"Mom, these are good! They are almost good as the store-bought ones!"
I just smiled.
"I bet if you made them one more time I could say that they were the exact same as the store-bought ones!"

He really is a sweetheart. Just don't expect him to sugar-coat things for you. I'm still working on the polite side of truth. ;-)
