I got sick last Thursday, and I figured it was the flu since we had someone at our house who got sick and later confirmed that it was the flu. To sum up, I was sick. Thursday I rested, Friday I was really, really sick (twice I took naps on the lovely cold tile around our toilet), and Saturday I was a bit better but completely congested. The congestion is awful, has come with a nasty cough, and only cleared up a bit a couple of days ago.
Evan took off Friday and took care of the kids, and they planned a lovely weekend of grilling out every night and projects during the day. Saturday Noelle got sick and spent quite a bit of time in bed with me. Evan and Nathan got to have a good bit of father/son time on Saturday. Nathan got sick on Sunday. Evan got sick Monday night. I don't think I've had a good night's sleep since last Thursday night.
Noelle has seemed to have it the worst. On Sunday she was just burning up, and Sunday night she stayed extremely hot even with medicine in her. I stayed up most of that night trying to keep cold wash cloths on her head while she slept. I know we went over 104 several times. She stopped having fever Tuesday afternoon (which was seemed to be the trend), and I thought we were done. Nathan's fever stopped the next day, but then Noelle's came back full force. (Evan had fever Monday night and Tuesday, and his went away Tuesday night...no fair.)
I took Noelle to the doctor yesterday to see what they thought. They confirmed that she has the flu. The doctor was concerned that the fever had gone away and returned, even though she tested negative for strep and RSV and her lungs were fine (pneumonia), so she prescribed Noelle and antibiotic for whatever infection could possibly be going on. She said I could wait 24 hours if I wanted to see how Noelle was doing...yeah, this doctor is used to me. ;-)
Noelle's temp was up to 103.9 yesterday afternoon (and probably more later), but she slept much better last night and even had her fever break after taking medicine. Today she is still running a temp but it's not out of control (and she hasn't had medicine since last night). Of course, Nathan got fever last night and is running a high temp (for him) today.
Evan went back to work today, finally, and he said that several people had pulled cans of disinfectant and boxes of tissues and toilet paper out of their supply closet and spread them all around his desk. ha He hasn't gone in until today just trying to be safe and not spread the germs, even though he hasn't had fever since Tuesday night.
Well, that is the story of the last week here at my house. I was planning on going to a curriculum share tonight with some homeschool moms, but I won't be going since both of my kids have fever and I don't really feel like sharing that. ;-) I had such big plans for the last two weekends, too. Actually, I'll just be happy when my kiddos are feeling better again.
