Another Day

I'm sorry that most of my stories aren't too chipper lately. I think the only time I want to carve out time to blog is when I am completely useless for anything else. ha
Today actually started out well. It was a WONDERFUL 81 degrees around 7 a.m., so I took the kids out back to eat breakfast. The wind was blowing (a somewhat cool breeze, if you can believe it), so we spent almost an hour outside. It was cloudy, so that helped tremendously.
Then I came inside and made salmon salad, yogurt smoothies, and cut up peaches and watermelon for our weekend with Mom's side of the family.
Noelle hasn't been her chipper self lately, but I imagined that it was because all four of her next to be cut teeth look as if they are about to pop through. This morning she actually played really well; she is loving her kitchen, and she also played with the magnetic letters on the fridge. Nathan played in his room quiet a bit with some Lego cars.
Evan came home for lunch, and after lunch I put Noelle down for a nap and let Nathan start a movie. I had dug out "Little House on the Prairie" for him because he asked if there was a movie about them. I called our friend to see if her daughter would want to come watch it with him because they had read all the Little House books (we've only gotten to The Long Winter). It worked out that they could drop her off, and she and Nathan watched the movie together. It was really fun to see them figure out what was going on based on what they remembered from the books. "It's Mr. Edwards!" "That's the china shepherdess."
Before I laid Noelle down for a nap, I had let her tee-tee on the potty. She fussed as she finished, and I kind of thought that she just wasn't wanting to go take a nap. Well, she was dry when she woke up from her nap, so I put her on the potty. Whoa. She started to go then tensed up and started crying. Not good. The doctor's office said they would work her in (this was a little after 3), so I took her up there and asked to go straight to the bathroom since she still hadn't used it (I figured they would want a urine sample, which they did). She screamed every time she tried. So THEN they had to tape a bag on her. She screamed bloody murder, and I spent probably 15-20 minutes holding her and bouncing her and trying to calm her down. I was starting to wonder how in the WORLD she could've gotten this bad so quickly. She finally used the bathroom, and they took the bag off. She sort-of calmed down after that, and the doctor came in. The doctor asked me all the normal questions, and the tech came in and showed her the the results (a bit of blood in the urine). I was really feeling badly then. The doctor had to go out for a minute, and I happened to think about a problem that Noelle has had since she was about a year old (skin in a tender spot fused together). Sure enough, the doctor checked, and it was starting to open up and was VERY red. So the doctor said that was almost positively the problem and gave me some tips on how to make her comfortable (which is about all we can do until it heals). I felt horrible that they had put a bag on her for that since I'm sure it aggravated the problem, but I was happy that she didn't have a UTI. The doctor said that her urine was VERY diluted so she was getting plenty of water. That, at least, made me feel a little better. I came home and put cream on her; then a little later I gave her a salt bath. Wish I had a video of the crazy child entertainer I became to distract a child from the fact that she's sitting down in water. She actually used the bathroom in our kitchen this evening (she didn't have a diaper on, per the doctor's instructions), and it didn't bother her. Putting her to bed was not fun, mainly because she had to wear a diaper again. I guess we'll see how the night goes.
Evan actually washed most of the dishes for me before he left to go study, so that was nice. Now I've got to read to Nathan and pack. :-)
Noelle was lying down on the couch today, and Nathan was whining in the floor. Noelle said, "Noelle seeping. Hush, Bubba."
