I've been waiting for this week. We have been traveling/vacationing for a LOT of time during the last month or two, and I was ready for a break. ha ha ha
I got back from Texas last Friday. Evan was exhausted because he's been working himself crazy. He set the alarm for 5:30 Monday morning, although we didn't get out of bed until six, which is how it generally goes. ha Monday morning I figured out that Gimli had suddenly gotten two hot spots (which can get 20x larger overnight), and I had to wrestle him in order to clean the nasty things, cut the hair from around them (he had already scratched/bitten most of the hair off of the actual spots), and bring him inside. I had put several 10-minute workouts on Netflixs in hopes of starting a new routine on Monday, but I decided that wrestling Gimli was enough of a workout.
I had also set Monday as my day to get Noelle out of diapers. She was potty-trained before we all got the flu, but she totally lost it during that and I hadn't had a chance to be very regular with her because of all the traveling since then. So Noelle pooped on herself while I was wrestling Gimli. That was all before breakfast.
Monday night I went to a mom's meeting and drank tea which I did not realize had caffeine (it was wonderful, though, jasmine and a bunch of other things). I fell into bed around 10:30, waiting to drift off, and I started picking at my nails, wiggling my legs, and just couldn't go to sleep. Around midnight I figured out that it was caffeine, so I got up and read for a while. After that I slept on and off, since Evan kept taking a whining Gimli out to use the bathroom and finally left him outside.
Tuesday morning I figured out why I had been so hormonal. Evan left early, as usual. Nathan brought Gimli inside as I was making smoothies for breakfast. Gimli started whining again then threw up. That's about the time I started laughing. I had also sent Noelle to her room because of her attitude, and she peed all over her bed. When I finally finished all the cleaning and got the smoothies made, both of my children spilled them on the deck. Thankfully for them, I was already over being upset. :-) Then I had to clean Gimli again.
We have Gimli in one of those huge cone-collars now so he can't lick himself. Which means I have to take it off when he has to go outside or get a drink or eat and watch him constantly while it is off. I also get to clean the one sore place that just isn't wanting to heal and put medicine on it. Gag.
Yesterday was better. We started and ended the day by going to the park, so the kids were TIRED. They also got to play with their friends, which they (and I) enjoyed very much. :-) Today we've done school (yes, Evan, we've actually done it all week), gone to Walmart to buy a million random things, and I've cleaned Gimli yet again. My parents are coming tomorrow to do something with Nathan for his birthday since they won't be here for his party; that's great, except that I still have a huge dog crate in my kitchen and haven't really had much time for little things like CLEANING THE HOUSE. ha ha I was hoping that he would be out of the house by now, but he is still inside.
On the bright side, Nathan has almost finished his phonics and math (which I am using as the official "end of kindergarden). We are going to keep doing school, although we'll just have to do math and phonics games until I get his other books. Totally not worrying about that right now. Also on the bright side, Noelle went all day yesterday without an accident. And this morning I got all our receipts entered into Quicken. I've also eaten 2/3 of a bag of Reisens this week, and I bought a bag of M&M's for potty training, so I've had probably a whole snack bag's worth of those today. Chocolate is a good thing.
Oh, a few other good things:
Nathan thinks I have a wonderful voice.
Nathan is a cowboy all the time lately, which greatly improves his manners and listening ability and attitude.
Nathan dusted for me today.
Did I mention that he's the cutest little cowboy ever?
Noelle is a sweet, cute, litte stinker. She is the most awesome little girl ever.
Noelle LOVES to help me in the kitchen, which means I am constantly telling myself that I am sowing seeds of helpfulness and will reap the actual help later (I'm shooting for the 100-fold).
Evan loves me. :-)
